1. Gold Medal / Jayaweera Kuruppu Memorial Award (to be awarded at the General Convocation)

 

The Mechanical Engineering Graduand who has obtained the highest overall Grade Point Average of 3.8 of above at the B.Sc. Engineering Degree examinations

 

OR

 

The Mechanical Engineering Graduand who has obtained the highest overall Grade Point Average of 3.7 of above at the B.Sc. Engineering Degree examinations.

2. The National Development Bank Award

 

Awarded to the Mechanical Engineering Graduand who has obtained the highest cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.7 or above in the examinations of the course modules ME2023 Manufacturing Engineering I, ME2170 Manufacturing Engineering II, and ME4332 Computer Aided Design and Manufacture.

 

3. Prof. G.K. Watugala Memorial Award

 

Awarded to the Mechanical Engineering Graduand who has obtained the highest cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.7 or above in the examinations of the course modules ME3012 Control Systems and Instrumentation.

 

4. Mr. M.R. Prelis Award

 

Awarded to the Mechanical Engineering Graduand who has obtained  the highest overall mark with Grade A or above in the examination of the course module ME4072 Industrial Engineering.

 

5. Mobil Award for the Best Mechanical Engineering Final Year Project

 

Awarded to the final year project group which has obtained highest average collectively with a Grade A- or above for the module M4202 Design/ Research Project with a cash prize of LKR 100,00.00 for the whole project group.

 

6. Vidya Jyothi Professor Dayantha S Wijeyesekera Award

 

Awarded for the most outstanding graduate of the year who is a versatile graduate of the University of Moratuwa of proven academic standing with a GPA exceeding 3.7 (or First Class honours); who is recognized as a leader and held in high esteem by other students; and has made a significant contribution through participation and service to the university and community.

7. The Most Outstanding Graduand Award of the Faculty of Engineering

 

Awarded for the most outstanding graduate of the year who is a versatile graduate of the Faculty of Engineering of proven academic standing with a GPA exceeding 3.7 (or First Class honours); who is recognized as a leader and held in high esteem by other students; and has made a significant contribution through participation and service to the university and community.

 

8. Manamperi Award - Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science

 

Awarded annually to the best undergraduate research engineering project carried out at a faculty of engineering in a Sri Lankan university. This award is open to students who have submitted their undergraduate engineering project to a Sri Lankan university within the academic year in consideration. A duly completed application along with a project report not exceeding 1500 words should be submitted to the SLAAS by the students themselves who wish to qualify for this award.

 

9. Migara Ranatunga Trust Award

 

This is awarded to the high achievers of level 3 industrial training module at the Annual sessions of IESL. The results of the evaluations done by the university training division will be submitted to the IESL, where a few undergraduates would be recognized as high achievers in the compulsory industrial training module in the engineering undergraduate program.
