Call for Applications - M.Sc./Master/PG. Diploma in Manufacturing Systems Engineering 2025/2026

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa is pleased to announce the commencement of the Postgraduate programme “Manufacturing Systems Engineering” for the academic year 2025/2026 and invites applications for admission from suitably qualified candidates. The course is offered commencing from April 2025 and will be offered in modular form. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering honours of the University of Moratuwa specializing in Mechanical/Chemical and Process/Electrical/ Electronic and Telecommunication/Materials Science and Engineering/Textile and Apparel Engineering/Transport Management and Logistics Engineering; or
2. 2. Any other Bachelors Engineering honours degree of at least four years duration, from a recognised University, in a field of specialisation relevant to manufacturing as may be approved by the Senate; or
3. Any other Bachelors Engineering degree of at least three years duration from a recognized university in a field of specialisation relevant to manufacturing as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of one year of appropriate experience obtained after the degree; or
4. Any other Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree of at least four years duration, from a recognised University, in a field of specialisation relevant to manufacturing as may be approved by the Senate; or
5. Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute, in a field relevant to manufacturing, obtained through an academic route as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of one year of relevant experience obtained after the membership.
   
PROGRAMME OF STUDIES

1. Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSc):

  • Duration: Two years (part-time)
  • SLQF Level: 10
  • Credits: 60 (40 credits of taught courses / 20 credits of research project)

2. Master in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (M):

  • Duration: Two years (part-time)
  • SLQF Level: 9
  • Credits: 30 (25 credits of taught courses / 5 credits of project)

3. Postgraduate Diploma in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (PG Dip.):

  • Duration: One year (part-time)
  • SLQF Level: 8
  • Credits: 25 (Fall back option)

All academic work will normally be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays.

COURSE FEES
Application Fee : Rs. 2,000/= per application(payable with application)
Registration Fee : Rs. 2,000/= per year (payable at registration)
Examination Fee : Rs. 500/= per year (payable at registration)
Tuition Fee :
  • MSc (SLQF 10) : Rs. 500,000/= (can be paid in two instalments of Rs. 250,000/= each)
  • Master (SLQF 9) : Rs. 400,000/= (can be paid in two instalments of Rs. 200,000/= each)
  • Upgrade from Master (SLQF 9) to MSc (SLQF 10): Rs. 200,000 (payable at the end of second semester)
  • Rs. 50,000/= for an additional year beyond 2 years up to the maximum duration of the programme(4 years)
Library Deposit :
  • Rs. 2,000/= non-refundable library fee
  • Rs. 2,500/= deposit per item, up to 6 items (optional and refundable)
 
APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application forms can be downloaded from the programme web page OR official course facebook page OR obtained via email by sending an email to pg-mse-secretary[at]uom.lk. Duly completed application together with the requested documents (scanned to a single PDF file) to be sent to pg-mse-secretary[at]uom.lk. Application fee of Rs. 2,000 should be paid to university account BOC: 70993353 (Katubedda Campus Branch) with the reference “MSE-25” and attach a proof of payment (scanned deposit or transfer slip) with the application.
