Reviving ASHRAE student branch of University of Moratuwa

The ASHRAE student branch of the University of Moratuwa’s reviving meeting was successfully held on 5th October 2021 as an online event, with the honourable presence of the president of ASHRAE Sri Lanka chapter Ms Udaa Sadamali. Representing the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Dr Anusha Wijewardane highlighted the importance of the student branch and restructuring the branch, which involves strengthening the students’ involvement in the chapter activities

ASHRAE stands for American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, mainly formulating standards and guidelines for the refrigeration and air conditioning sector towards “A healthy and sustainable built environment for all”. The ASHRAE student branch was initiated in the University of Moratuwa at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2011 as the first student branch in Sri Lanka to expose the students studying in the fields of energy to an organizational environment.

Representing the ASHRAE Sri Lanka chapter, Mr H G Jayaweera (president-elect), Mr Randika Amarasuriya (secretary), Mrs Dayani Gunawardhana (board of governors, historian & ARVC student activity), and Mr W A Darshana Deshapriya (student activity chair) joined the event alongside with a group of enthusiastic students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who are following ME4382 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning module .
