Prabathiya Herath becomes Sri Lanka Champion in IMechE SOFE Competition 2021

We proudly congratulate Mr. Prabathiya Herath; a students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DoME), representing the University of Moratuwa (UoM) for becoming Sri Lanka Champion of Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) competition 2021 organised by IMechE Sri Lanka Group. We also congratulate Mr. Ranuka Perera from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) for becoming the runner-up in the competition.

This is the 4th consecutive time that a student from DoME UoM has reached this milestone. The champion and the runner-up will compete in South Asia regional competition which will be held in due course.

Preliminary rounds were held in August 2021 with more than 20 contestants from 5 different universities in Sri Lanka. Five students from DoME UoM (Ms. Sumudu Adikaram, Mr. Ashen Ravindu, Mr. Shayan Gopikrishnan, Mr. Mahela Prasanna, and Mr. Prabathiya Herath) competed in the preliminary round and Mr. Mahela Prasanna and Mr. Prabathiya Herath become winners and through to the finals along with 4 other contestants.

Sri Lanka Finals was successfully held on 23rd of October 2021 with the participation of IMechE Sri Lanka Group officials and the evaluation panel was composed of well experienced members of Toastmasters International.

We wish Mr. Prabathiya Herath a brighter future and best of luck for South Asia regional competition.
