Mr. Priyankara Kodikara, Managing Director, Ladvo Computers (Pvt.) Ltd., of No. 88, “Himali” Koswatta, Bekkegama Road, Walana, Panadura donated a DAEWOO cutaway automobile Petrol IC engine and powertrain demonstration kit to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa on 04th December 2020. The Head of the Department went along with several non-academic staff members to accept the donation and bring it to the University.
The demonstration kit donated by Mr. Priyankara Kodikara is worth at least Rs. 1,100,000 (US$ 6,000 according to internet sources, excluding insurance, freight and duty). It is extremely valuable for the education of the engineering students and will be exclusively utilized for the education of Engineering Undergraduates. The demonstration is kept in the Automobile Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The Department wishes to thank Mr. Priyankara Kodikara for his benevolence and supporting the state education system in Sri Lanka and Mr. Wasantha Premalal, a demonstrator currently attached to the workshops of the University, for initiating and facilitating this donation.
