Call for Application - MEng/PG Diploma in Manufacturing Systems Engineering 2025/2026

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa is pleased to announce the commencement of the Postgraduate programme “Manufacturing Systems Engineering” for the academic year 2025/2026 and invites applications for admission from suitably qualified candidates. The course is offered commencing from March 2026 and will be offered in semesters. Details of the course can be found in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Or via the programme web page:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering honours of the University of Moratuwa specializing in Mechanical Engineering/Chemical and Process Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering/Textile and Apparel Engineering/Transport Management and Logistics Engineering; or
2. Any other Bachelors honours Engineering degree of at least four years duration, from a recognised University, in a field of specialisation relevant to manufacturing as may be approved by the Senate; or
3. Any Bachelors Engineering degree of at least three years duration from a recognized university in a field of specialisation relevant to manufacturing as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of one year of appropriate experience obtained after the degree; or
4. Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute, in a field relevant to manufacturing, obtained through an academic route as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of one year of relevant experience obtained after the membership.
   
PROGRAMME OF STUDIES

1. Master of Engineering in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MEng):

  • Duration: Two years (part-time)
  • Successful completion (overall GPA not less than 2.5) of the academic requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma and additional mandatory individual research project leading to a dissertation meeting the minimum duration condition of the degree.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (PG Dip.):

  • Duration: One year (part-time)
  • Taught courses and laboratory work, assignments, seminars, and field visits.

All academic work will normally be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays.
COURSE FEES
Application Fee : Rs. 2,000/= per application(payable with application)
Registration Fee : Rs. 2,000/= per year (payable at registration)
Examination Fee : Rs. 500/= per year (payable at registration)
Tuition Fee :
  • Rs. 400,000/= (can be paid in two instalments of Rs. 200,000/= each)
  • Rs. 50,000/= for an additional year (up to the maximum duration of the programme)
Library Charges :
  • Rs. 2,000/= non-refundable library fee
  • Rs. 2,500/= deposit per item, up to 6 items (optional and refundable)
 
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
  • Duly completed application together with the requested documents (scanned and combined to a single PDF file) to be sent to pg-mse-secretary[at]uom.lk.
  • Application fee of Rs. 2,000 should be paid: "University of Moratuwa, Bank of Ceylon A/C – 70993353" with the reference “MEng - MSE - 25” and attach a proof of payment (scanned deposit slip or transfer proof) with the application.
