The final year research project has been awarded 2nd place at Emerging Civil Engineer Awards 2022, conducted by the SLAice

A Final year research project conducted at the department of civil engineering, University of Moratuwa has been awarded 2nd place at the “Emerging Civil Engineer Awards 2022” organized by the Sri Lankan Association of Institution of Civil Engineers (SLAice). This fleet has been achieved by Mr. U.A.K. Premakumara, presenting his final year research themed ‘Development of an Overall Construction Productivity Assessment Framework and an Improvement Model’ under the supervision of Dr. C. S. A. Siriwardana.

Springer book published with the proceedings of a Conference organised by the Department of Civil Engineering

The Conference Proceedings of the International Conference on Road and Airfield Pavement Engineering hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering were published by Springer in their book series Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering. The book was edited by Dr. H.R. Pasindu, Prof. Wasantha Mampearachchi, Prof. Saman Bandara and Prof. T.F. Fwa.

A training program for high-level delegates from the Ministry of Environment of Maldives

Department of Civil Engineering successfully conducted a training program on “Project Planning and Control with Microsoft Project” to high-level delegates from the Ministry of Environment of Maldives from 19th – 30th June 2022. The set of delegates included Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba, the Minister of State for Environment of Maldives.

The 6th Intake of the South Asian Water Resources Engineering and Management program completed

The UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Center for South Asia Water Management (UMCSAWM) at University of Moratuwa conducts the International/Regional MSc/PG Diploma in Water Resources Engineering and Management program in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering and South Asia Foundation (SAF). The program admits practising water engineers from the local industry as well as from the South Asian region.

Prof SAS Kulathilake from the Department of Civil Engineering visits University of Western Sydney and RMIT Melbourne

Prof Athula Kulathilaka attended 20th ICSMGE (International Conference in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) in Sydney from 1-5 May, where he published two research papers. He also represented Sri Lankan Geotechnical Society at the Council meeting of the ISSMGE (International Society on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering).
