On 30 October 2025, the Department of Earth Resources Engineering at the University of Moratuwa officially launched its inaugural postgraduate programmes in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems:
- Master of Science in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MSc (RS & GIS)]
- Master of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MRS & GIS]
- Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [PGDip (RS & GIS)]
The launch event featured remarks by Dr. S.P. Chaminda (Course Coordinator), Dr. L.P.S. Rohitha (Head of Department), and Professor Jagath Manathunge (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), with participation from academic staff and invited experts.
The first batch of students begins their academic journey in mid-November 2025, marking a new phase in geospatial education at the university.
