Microbe-Informed Asset Analytics: Combining eDNA-Based Habitat Potential and Machine Learning for Pipeline Risk Prioritization
Daisuke Sano is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tohoku University, Japan, where he leads the Water and Public Health Study Team. With a specialized focus on sanitary engineering and public health microbiology, his research expertise includes viral inactivation mechanisms, waterborne pathogen transmission modeling, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in wastewater systems.
Prof. Sano holds a Ph.D. from Tohoku University and possesses extensive international research experience. He currently serves as the Chair of the International Water Association (IWA) Health-Related Water Microbiology Specialist Group and has contributed to World Health Organization (WHO) technical briefs regarding WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and wastewater strategies aimed at combatting AMR globally.
