A ceremony organized by the Faculty of Engineering to commemorate the retirement and appreciate the invaluable service by the Former Senior Lecturer and Consultant Chartered Mining Engineer; Eng. P.V.A. Hemalal retired from his service on 30th September 2020. The event was held on 1st April 2021 with the presence of Dean-Faculty of Engineering; Professor Nalin Wickramarachchi and Faculty Board Members.
Eng. P.V.A. Hemalal is an outstanding product of Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow, Russia, a renowned academic and a researcher, had been also a Consultant to the GSMB, Sri Lanka, A Member of IESL, A Fellow of IMMM [UK], A Chartered Mining Engineer [UK], A Chartered Engineering Panel Member of IESL for Earth Resources and Mining Engineering for more than 10 years.
Eng. P.V.A. Hemalal joined the Department of Mining and Minerals Engineering, University of Moratuwa for the first time in 1991 as a Senior Lecturer. In the mid-term [1996], he resigned and joined Lanka Phosphate Ltd. as the General Manager/Chief Mining Engineer and served them 13 years. After leaving Lanka Phosphate Ltd in 2009, he rejoined the Department of Earth Resources Engineering and served a term of 10 years for the University of Moratuwa.
