So proud of our brilliant final‑year students HSH Seneviratne, APRL Madushanka, and MKP Nadeesha from the Department of Earth Resources Engineering, University of Moratuwa, bringing home the Silver Award at the Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association (SLEMA) Annual Undergraduate Energy Research Awards 2026, sponsored by Forbes Marshall Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
Huge appreciation to their supervisor, Professor DMDOK Dissanayake, for the guidance and mentorship that made this achievement possible.
Out of 79 abstracts submitted across Sri Lanka, only 12 made it to the finals, and just two awards were presented: Gold and Silver. To secure Silver in such a competitive field is a fantastic recognition of their talent and hard work.
Their project, “Evaluating the Energy Saving Potential of TiO₂ Radiative Cooling Coatings for Sustainable Urban Building Management in Colombo, Sri Lanka”, shows how innovative engineering can reduce heat absorption, lower cooling demand, and boost energy efficiency in tropical cities.
Cheers to the team, and way to go!
