The Civil Engineering Society (CES) of University of Moratuwa initiated the "Skill up with CES" webinar series with the aim of providing opportunities for the students to meet the expert and renowned professionals from all around the world. Within two months from the initiation, five successful webinars were carried out under several major topics.
The latest webinar was conducted on 12th December 2021 by Dr. Rajeev Ruparathna (BSc.Eng Hons.(Moratuwa), M.A.Sc (Canada), Ph.D. (Canada), P.Eng (Canada)). Dr. Rajeev is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Windsor, Canada, and an alumnus of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa. Dr. Rajeev conducted the webinar on Modern Trends in Construction Digitalization. He elaborated on the emerging areas such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), digital transformation in the construction sector and infrastructure management using machine learning and big data management. This webinar was an excellent eye-opener for undergraduates and practitioners to identify emerging construction industry trends and see how we can apply those to the Sri Lankan construction industry.
