An article published in PLOS Biology on 08-10-2020 with authors from Stanford University and Elsevier BV is linked to a publicly available database of 100,000 top-ranked scientists, together with the top 2% of scientists for every sub-field (Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators (plos.org)). Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. Ranking of scientist is done using standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator. The career-wide database covers the years 1986 to 2019, and includes articles, reviews and conference papers (and corresponding citations) in the Scopus database. There are 15 scientists working out of Sri Lanka on this career-wide database.

Professor Priyan Dias from the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa is among these 15 scientists from Sri Lanka. His inclusion reflects the impact and quality of research conducted throughout his illustrious career of close to 40 years. He is also the current President of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka. The Civil Engineering Department and the University of Moratuwa would like to congratulate Prof. Dias on his impressive achievement and thank him for bringing us an accolade of this nature.
