“i2i – Innovation to Industry”, a knowledge sharing webinar organized by Insee Cement was held online via zoom on 31st March 2022. The main aim was to establish a connection and create a dialogue between the academics at the University with the relevant industries. Dr Pasindu Weerasinghe from the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa conducted the Webinar on the topic “Fire Performance of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Analysis, Design and Rectification Methods”. The webinar was an ideal platform to showcase the cutting-edge research carried out at the university. The industry was equally benefitted from this webinar as it provided solutions to some of the pressing issues related to fire performance, faced by the construction industry. The panel discussion which followed was joined by Dr Shanaka Baduge from The University of Melbourne and Dr Lakshitha Fernando from the University of Moratuwa. The participants had the chance to discuss on latest fire-resistive materials and innovations in the concrete industry. Strategies to improve blast resistance of structures were also highlighted.
