Civil Engineering Research Symposium (CERS) 2022

Civil Engineering Research Symposium (CERS) 2022, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa was successfully held on the 01st of December 2022 at the Civil Engineering Auditorium.

The symposium showcased the latest and novel research activities undertaken by undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department. A special keynote speech on “Data is the new Gold” was delivered by Professor Campbell Middleton from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

The symposium was especially dedicated to Emeritus Professor U. G. A. Puswewala, recognizing his valuable contribution to the Civil Engineering Department.

The symposium proceedings produced as a book of abstracts that comprises the findings of the latest Civil Engineering undergraduate research projects, conducted under different Civil Engineering themes, including Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulic, Construction, Environmental, and Transportation Engineering, was launched. A selected set of abstracts were physically presented by students at the symposium.

A 3-Minute Thesis (3-MT) Challenge for postgraduate students was also organized in parallel, demonstrating their latest research achievements in a creative manner. The winners of the competition were announced at the symposium, and they were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
