Civil Engineering Research Symposium 2021

Civil Engineering Research Symposium 2021 showcases the latest research activities undertaken by undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa.

The book of abstracts published with the symposium comprises the findings of the latest Civil Engineering undergraduate research projects, conducted under broad themes of Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulic, Construction, Environmental and Transportation Engineering. A selected set of abstracts will be presented during the morning session, held fully online.

This year, the symposium will also include a 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Challenge for postgraduate students for the first time, demonstrating their latest research achievements in a creative manner.

The evening session of the symposium is dedicated to the retiring academic staff members of the Civil Engineering Department. It will be held as a hybrid event at the Auditorium of the Civil Engineering Department, where Prof. Priyan Dias will address the audience as the most recently retired member of the Department.

The event will also include two guest speeches by Prof. David Thambiratnam and Prof. Mahen Mahendran of the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
