COMPUTATIONAL MECHANICS

c

The Computational Mechanics group aims at developing novel techniques in the areas of finite deformable beam analysis, computational homogenisation, data-driven engineering, Digital Image Correlation (DIC) for strain measurements, and structural optimization. In structural optimization, we are particularly keen on applying topology and shape optimization techniques to optimize material usage in structures, thus enhancing the stiffness to material volume ratio sustainable design. The group relies on various commercial and open source algorithmic formulations and numerical solvers to conduct these research works. DIC for full-field strain measurements, a non-destructive and user-friendly technique based on image processing, is currently at the final stage of production as mobile and web apps. Our group's high-end computers provide accelerated computing power to conduct the desired numerical experiments efficiently.
