Ecological Engineering can be defined as the design of sustainable ecosystems (natural and artificial), which integrate human society with its natural environment. The main objectives of Ecological Engineering are to;
- restore the ecosystems that have been substantially disturbed by human activities,
- develop new sustainable ecosystems that have both human and ecological values.
