Construction Materials and Methods

cm

The Construction Materials & Methods Team focuses on a range of materials for construction of structural and non-structural elements along with numerous construction technologies. Further to analyzing the performance of conventional construction materials, we are interested in inventing green materials for load bearing and non-structural applications that can improve the thermo-mechanical performance of the buildings. Mud Concrete, Cement stabilized earth, timber, aerated concrete, and bamboo are some of the novel materials currently explored by our team. Another key area that is presently being focused is retrofitting of structures against extreme forces of nature. Our team uses a numerical modeling approach to analyze the thermal and mechanical behaviour of the developed materials and its applications.
