Dr. RMM Ruwanthika has been promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer Gr II in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 23rd March 2022.
The Inauguration of MSc / PG Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installations, Industrial Automation and PG Certificate Programs of 2022/23 intake was held on Friday, 9th December 2022 at the Seminar room of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
Dr. Asanka S. Rodrigo has been promoted to the post of Professor in Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering (on merit) with effect from 23rd June 2021.
Prof. WDAS Wijayapala has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering to succeed Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, with effect from 20th October 2022.
Prof. Wijayapala graduated from University of Moratuwa in 1991 specializing in Electrical Engineering. He has over 25 years of experience in the electrical engineering industry in Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and an International Professional Engineer.
The department congratulates Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, former head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, who was elected as the Dean of Faculty of Engineering of University of Moratuwa, with effect from 20th October 2022.
Dr. Manuja Gunawardana currently affiliated as a lecturer on contract to the Department of Electrical Engineering has completed his Ph.D. with effect from 19th July 2022.
Dr. R M M Ruwanthika resumed duties in the post of Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 10th August 2022. The department would like to congratulate her for successful completion of PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Seiichiro Katsura at the Department of System Design Engineering, Keio University, Japan. Her PhD research focused on excess force reduction in bilateral control for precise and safe operation. Dr R M M Ruwanthika received the B.Sc.
Dr. Asanka Rodrigo has been appointed as a Member of the Jury of the "Presidential Awards for Innovations" by the H.E. the President of Sri Lanka. The Presidential Awards for Innovations is organised by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) and awarded to 14 technical fields.
