Prof. Anura Wijayapala has been promoted to the post of Senior Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa with effect from 14th February 2025.
Snr.Prof. Wijayapala graduated with a BSc (Engineering) (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa in 1991. He obtained his MSc from the same university in 2001. Before joining the Department of Electrical Engineering in 2005, he gained 15 years of experience in the private-sector electrical engineering industry.
Snr. Prof. Wijayapala has served as Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, NERD (National Engineering Research and Development) Centre, and LTL Holdings. During his sabbatical leave from 2018 to 2020, he served as the CEO of WindForce PLC and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Vidullanka PLC. His research interests include renewable energy, power system analysis, project management, and battery energy storage systems.
