The Department of Electrical Engineering marked the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with Trical Udanaya 2025, held on the 1st of May. The event brought together students from across all batches and staff to celebrate the cultural traditions of the New Year in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
EESpire’25, the official career fair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, was held on April 29th, 2025, and successfully brought together students and industry under one roof. Organized by the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc), the event hosted 20 leading companies across sectors such as power and energy, automation, electrical installation, software engineering, and machine learning.
Prakampana’25, the annual cultural showcase organized by the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc), illuminated the Rubert Peiris Auditorium on April 2, 2025, with a vibrant display of music, dance, and drama. For one memorable night, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa came alive not just as engineers, but as artists.
The Final Year Project Room of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, was officially declared open on the 1st of April 2025. The event was attended by Mr. K.A.D. Pushpakeerthi, Bursar of the Finance Division, and Prof. Anura Wijayapala, Head of the Department, along with academic and non-academic staff, invited guests, and students.
Enlumen 2025 marked a special milestone for the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, as it hosted its first-ever alumni get-together on March 12, 2025, at Eagles’ Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall, Attidiya. The evening brought together generations of graduates, current students, and staff for a night filled with joy, reflection, and renewed connections.
The Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, in collaboration with Hatton National Bank PLC, successfully hosted the Financial Workshop “Managing Your Finances” on the 27th of March 2025 at the Seminar Room.
The session, conducted by Mr. Derifer Marasinghe, offered students valuable knowledge on budgeting, saving, and financial planning. With active participation and engaging discussions, the workshop helped students better understand how to manage their personal finances effectively.
We're thrilled to announce the graduation of Hoashalarajh Rajendran, who recently completed his MSc. (Research) with a dissertation titled "Situation-Aware Proactive Service by Observing the User Behaviors for Service Robots." Hoashalarajh was a valuable member of the Intelligent Service Robotics group (ISRG) for two years. We congratulate him on this achievement and wish him all the best as he begins his PhD studies at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada!
