Dr. Milinda Pathiraja, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture won the Silver award in the 4th Global Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction for his community library building in Ambepussa. This award recognizes architectural interventions that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
This was held on April 23rd at the Department of Architecture.
Varuna de Silva, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture participated in the prestigious 2015 Glenn Murcutt International Architecture Master Class held in Sydney, Australia from 5-19th July 2015. He was the first ever participant from Sri Lanka and was awarded a 50% scholarship as a worthy applicant.
The Department of Architecture took part in the Architect 2015 Exhibition held at BMICH Colombo from 19 to 22 February. The creations and coursework of students from Level 1 to 5 were displayed in the University of Moratuwa stall, with emphasis on the 2014 final year Comprehensive Design Projects. A large number of visitors visited the stall.
The Awards Ceremony for the eleventh cycle of the prestigious ‘Architecture+Design &CERA Awards 2014’ was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The event was organised by Architecture+Design, the premium national journal of architecture of Exposure Media Marketing Ltd. of Burda International and CERA. The event was a rare intellectual platform with an august gathering of over 250 architects from India, South-East Asia and Turkey.

The Department of Architecture successfully concluded the Second International Conference on Cities, People and Places (ICCPP-2014) and the inauguration was held on 31st October 2014 at the Foundation Institute in Colombo. The chief Guest of this event was Mr. Keith Davis, the country Director of British Council. The inauguration ceremony was concluded with a Sri Lanka cultural pageant and a conference dinner. The conference was held on Nov 1st, 2014 at the same venue.
This was held on October 30th, 2014 from 9am to 5pm at the Department of Architecture for the students of architecture and planning. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Koen Wandeler from the University of Lueven in Belgium and a special lecture was conducted by Prof. Rich Rise from Texas University of USA. Several foreign academics and foreign students from the Universities from USA, Thailand, Cambodia, and India were participated the workshop.

Architect Narein Perera, was awarded the 2014 Inaugural 'Architecture Asia Award for Emerging Architects' as a part of the Architects Regional Council of Asia(ARCASIA) and Asian Congress of Architects (ACA) sessions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
