2nd International Conference on Electrical Engineering, EECon 2018

The Department of Electrical Engineering organized International Conference on Electrical Engineering, EECon 2018 for the second time on 28th September 2018 at the Victorian of the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo. The conference was graced with the presence of Vice Chancellor of University of Moratuwa, Prof. Kapila Perera and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nalin Wickramarachchi.

A Final Year Project Group from 13 batch Won the First Place of IEEE IAS CMD Myron Zucker UG Design Competition (Team Category)

One of the 13 batch final year project groups from the Department of Electrical Engineering (E.H.A.D Shanaka Dilan Premarathna, K.A.P Chinthiya, R.R Dharmadasa and P.H.D.A.N Wijesinghe) won the first place of the IEEE IAS CMD Myron Zucker Design Competition (Team Category) 2017 award for their final year project -

Intelligent Service Robotics Group Present at IEEE IROS 2018

A research paper titled ‘Proxemics and Approach Evaluation by Service Robot Based on User Behavior in Domestic Environment’’ was presented at the 2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) held from Oct 01 - 05 in Madrid, Spain by S. M. Bhagya P. Samarakoon, a postgraduate research student and Dr. M. A. Viraj J. Muthugala  in the Department of Electrical Engineering .

Won 2nd Place in MathWorks Mini Drone Competition IROS 2018

MathWorks Mini Drone Competition IROS 2018 was held 3rd and 4th October 2018 in Madrid, Spain as a part of IEEE/RSJ IROS 2018 conference. The competition consisted with tow rounds. More than 30 teams were registered for the round 1 of the competition.  In round 1, the teams had to develop a simulation model for navigating a Parrot Mamba minidrone using Matlab/Simulink.

mathworks
