Special Workshop on "Research Thesis Writing Skills & Professional Ethics"

A Special Workshop on "Research Thesis Writing Skills & Professional Ethics" was successfully conducted for the 2021/22 intake of MSc/PGD in Sustainable Process Engineering Course on 21.01.2023.

In this session, the MSc candidates gained practical knowledge and skills on Research Thesis Writing and the important tips of Professional Ethics for their future Professional Development.

The Course Coordinator, Dr. Mahinsasa Rathnayake, was the Resource Person for this Special Workshop. He shared his practical experiences on the ethical behavior in the industry and the research writing styles in thesis writing & publications with the participants for this workshop

Prof. Rune Bakke in Norway was Commemorated by Prof. P.G. Rathnasiri

The MSc/PGD Program in Sustainable Process Engineering was developed under Norwegian (NOMA project) funding and as a result the program as well as the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa gained multiple benefits such as development of learning environment, upgrading degree programs, student transfer, post-graduate scholarships, foreign training, and many more.

Prof. Rune Bakke was an instrumental and leading character for all these initiatives. During a recent visit to Norway, Prof. P.G. Rathnasiri - Professor at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa and the Founding Course Coordinator of the MSc/PGD in Sustainable Process Engineering Program commemorated Prof. Rune Bakke by unveiling a Sculpture of him at Prof. Rune’s University in Norway. This Sculpture of Prof. Rune Bakke was built by one of the Alumni of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa.

Industrial Visit for Sustainable Process Case Study

"Industrial Visit for Sustainable Process Case Study" for Semester 03 of the part-time MSc students in the 2021/22 intake of MSc/PG Diploma Course in Sustainable Process Engineering offered by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa was taken place on 19.11.2022 at AEN Palm Oil Processing Pvt Ltd, Lathpandura.


In this visit, the MSc students studied the entire Palm Oil Production Process as a Sustainable Case Study and explored the existing and future sustainability improvement initiatives in the process.

Special Session on "Practical Awareness to Experimental Research"

A Special Session on "Practical Awareness to Experimental Research" was successfully conducted for the 2021/22 intake of MSc/PGD in Sustainable Process Engineering Course on 21.08.2022. In this session, the MSc candidates gained practical exposure to Analytical Techniques, Environmental Measurement Techniques, and Industrial Chemistry Lab skills.

Course Coordinator, Dr. Mahinsasa Rathnayake, Lecturers - Dr. Dilhara Sethunga and Dr. Tharushi Prabha Keerthisinghe, Analytical Chemist - Ms. Dinusha Martino, and Instructor - Mr. Keishana Navodye were the Facilitators for the Practical Sessions.

Field Visit to Aruna Tea Factory, Meegahathanna for Steam Energy Assessment Audit

MSc/PG Diploma Course in Sustainable Process Engineering offered by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa is full of Industry-oriented Learning Activities.

"Field Visit for Steam Energy Assessment Audit" was taken place for one group of the part-time MSc students in the 2021/22 intake of the course on 03.03.2022 at Aruna Tea Factory, Meegahathanna.

The Part 02 of "Field Visit for Steam Energy Assessment" was taken place for the part-time MSc students in the 2021/22 intake of MSc/PG Diploma Course in Sustainable Process Engineering offered by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa on 08.03.2022 at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo 03. In this visit, the students studied the Steam Energy applications in the Hotel Industry.
