Below are the most frequently asked questions of applicants applying for the MSc/PG Diploma in Sustainable Process Engineering.

Course Details

How do I get the course details?

Most of the necessary details are provided within the Student Handbook (Link here) of this study program. Students should contact the course coordinator to get any additional details.

What is the duration of the Masters programme ?

The MSc/PG Diploma Course has three (03) taught course semesters worth 40 Credits. It will take around 15 months (In general 01 Semester = 4-5 months) to complete the taught course. Upon completion of these 40 credits, you are eligible to the first exit level of PG Diploma which is in par with SLQF level 08/09. To achieve the MSc (SLQF level 10), you need to carry out a Research Thesis of 20 credits under a research supervisor from the same department. If you work well, you can complete your research thesis within next 09 months and complete your MSc within 02 years (24 months).

Is it physical or online?

All the regular lectures and assessments are in the online mode through our standard learning management system. However, there are a few activities, such as field visits to the industry, practical workshops, etc. will be in physical mode.

Is there a plan to start a new batch for MSc in Sustainable process Engineering degree this year? We are planning to call for applications for the next intake in December this year (2022) with the plan to commence the course by March next year (2023).

What are the eligibility requirements for this courses?

    Is there any specific field of experience?

    There is no specific field of experience, but it must be related to chemical and process engineering. For an example, required some experience in process industry/textile manufacturing/manufacturing industry/Service industry or related process industry, etc.

    What is the English language requirement for this course?

    There is no specific English language qualification required. However, you should have appropriate capability in writing, reading, and speaking in English

    Will I need to attend an interview for my graduate programme?

    An interview is a part of the selection process. Therefore, you must attend the interview.

    Applications

    When do applications open?

    Applications for the 2023/24 academic year will open on ………… and close on advertised deadline…………… We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible. The submissions may not remain open after the general deadline

      How do I submit my application?

      Completed application forms should be sent by email to the course coordinator with Postgraduate Diploma / MSc in Sustainable Process Engineering written in the subject field of the email. (Incomplete or incorrectly filled applications will not be processed)

      Do I need to submit supporting documents with the application?

      Applicants should provide certified true copies of documents as evidence to support academic or professional qualifications. Providing false or fraudulent information will result in the termination of the studentship at any stage. The following can be used as the list of required documents.

      1. Copy of the degree certificate.
      2. Copy of the official transcript.
      3. Documents supporting your claim of membership in the professional organization.
      4. Document indicating your membership status and the date of election to this status in the professional organization.
      5. All transcripts of examinations conducted by the professional organization in order to fulfill the current membership status.
      6. Birth certificate
      7. National ID
      Who can certify copies of my documents?

      We are able to accept copies certified only by:

      • the institution which issued the original document
      • a lawyer/solicitor/attorney

      The certified copy should have an original ink stamp confirming that it is a true copy of the original, together with an ink signature.

      Do I need to provide a CV with my application?

      You are not required to provide a CV with your application. However, it can often be a good way to summarize your education and work experience.  

      The application deadline has passed, can I still apply?

      It is not possible to submit an application once the application deadline has passed. If you have missed the deadline you will only be able to submit an application for the next admissions cycle.

      When will I receive a decision on my graduate application?

      Your application is important to us and we take time to evaluate it carefully. Once we have reviewed your application, we will notify you with our decision. If you have not received any reply means that we are still considering it and have not yet made a decision.  

       

      Can I ask for feedback on an unsuccessful graduate application?

      Under UOM admissions policy, reasons for an unsuccessful application are not normally provided for graduate programmes. However, the usual reasons for rejection may include:  

      • The degree-level qualification(s) undertaken by the applicant is/are below, or projected to be below, the minimum entry requirement for the programme of study 
      • The degree-level qualification(s) undertaken by the applicant is/are not in a relevant subject for the programme of study applied for 
      • There is insufficient relevant work experience
      • Final decision taken by the interview panel
      How much does this postgraduate course cost?

      The tentative total course fee for the next intake would be Rs. 300,000/=. Payment is possible in installment basis; 50%: at the point of course registration, 25%: at the beginning of 2nd Semester, 25%: at the beginning of 3rd Semester
