The Department of Town & Country Planning, University of Moratuwa, is proud to announce the second (2nd) intake of the PG Diploma / Master of Science in Environmental Planning degree program with the support of Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment.
Duration of the Masters degree programme is 2 years (4 semesters) and the Post graduate diploma is 1 year (2 semesters). The first two semesters consist of the core part of the taught component and two planning studios. This is a part-time degree programme. The regular lectures of the course will be conducted on weekends. During planning studios, the students are required to be present regularly for a period of 02 weeks per semester.
Those who successfully complete these two semesters including examinations will be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements of the M.Sc. will complete two more semesters including a dissertation will be awarded the M.Sc. degree upon successful completion. This degree is approved and accredited by the University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka.
The course offers a range of modules including Environmental Assessment (EIA / SEA), Environmental Planning Techniques, Planning Theory and Strategic Intervention, Eco Sensitive Planning, Infrastructure Planning, Governance, Planning and Environmental Law, Environment Economics, Environmental Management Systems, Project Financing & Management, Advanced GIS & RS.
An Honours Bachelor's degree of the University of Moratuwa, in a relevant field or any other Bachelor's degree from a recognized University in a relevant field of at least four (04) years duration, equivalent to an Honours Bachelor's degree of the University of Moratuwa as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate.
Any other Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University in a relevant field, as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate, and a minimum of one (01) year post-qualifying relevant experience in the area of Environmental Planning and Urban Development as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate.
Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute in a relevant field obtained through an academic route as judged by the relevant Faculty and approved by the Senate, and a minimum of one (01) year post-qualifying relevant experience in the area of Environmental Planning and Urban Development as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate.

Curriculum of PG Dip/MSc in Environmental Planning
The tuition fee to complete the Master is Rs.300, 000/- and Rs. 210,000/- for PG Diploma, which can be paid in four and two installments respectively. In addition to this each candidate will have to pay for Registration, Library facility, Examination fees etc.
Completed applications shall be submitted to the Department of Town & Country Planning with a receipt for payment of the application processing fee of Rs.1000.00 to the University Shroff (weekdays from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm & 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm) or sent by post to the university with a pay-in voucher worth Rs.1000.00, obtained from any Bank of Ceylon branch, to be paid to 'University of Moratuwa' - A/C No: 70993353.
