A ceremony organized by the Department of Earth Resources Engineering to commemorate the retirement and appreciate the invaluable service by the Former Senior Lecturer and Consultant Chartered Mining Engineer; Eng. P.V.A. Hemalal and Former Head of the Department; Professor Emeritus U.G.A. Puswewala was held on 29th Oct 2022 at Golden Rose, Borelasgamuwa.
The Hydraulic Earth Drill bought by the department twenty years back under the ADB Project was repaired and recommissioned with the presence of the Vice-Chancellor; Professor N.D. Gunawardena and Dean-Faculty of Engineering; Professor N.K. Wickramarachchi at University Ground.
