On 26 February 2026, we bid farewell to Eng. AVP Vijitha, who retires from the Department of Earth Resources Engineering, University of Moratuwa after a remarkable career of teaching, mentoring, and guiding countless students.

On 30 October 2025, the Department of Earth Resources Engineering at the University of Moratuwa officially launched its inaugural postgraduate programmes in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems:

The Department of Earth Resource Engineering is hiring four (04) temporary instructors from the Intake 2020.

The application window is now open for the Master of Science in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MSc (RS & GIS)], Master of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MRS & GIS], and Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [PGDip (RS & GIS)] for the 2025/2026 intake.

We extend our congratulations to Dr. L.P.S. Rohitha on his appointment as Head of the Department, effective 26 June 2025. We welcome his leadership as he begins this new chapter.

Great news! The deadline for paper submissions to ISERME 2025 has been extended to 18 July 2025 (AoE).

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the admission to Diploma in Gemmology conducted by the Department of Earth Resources Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
