Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering
Established in 2005 affiliated to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa, the Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering offers two degree programs (1) Bachelors Degree Program in Transport & Logistics Management (BSc. (Hons) T&LM) and (2) Bachelors Degree Program in Transport Management & Logistics Engineering (BSc. (Hons) TM&LE) which had been a long felt need in Sri Lanka. In addition, the department also offers various postgraduate programs including MBA/PG Dip. in Supply Chain Management, Master of Science (Major Component by Research), MPhil, PhD, Short Courses and Consultancy Services to government institutions and industries.
BSc. in Transport & Logistics Management and BSc. in Transport Management & Logistics Engineering are awarded as a 4-year Honors Degree programs conducted in English. BSc. in Transport & Logistics Management program will be discontinued after 2025 as it was converted to a fully-fledged Engineering degree in Transport Management & Logistics Engineering. These degrees essentially focus on the management spectrum with a technical specialization in Transport and Logistics. Supposedly, the curriculum caters to grooming graduates in key areas of knowledge, skills and attitudes, which are essential for the modern workplace. In this respect, the knowledge transfer comprising the core subject areas of management and transport with competencies in analytical, presentation, leadership and decision-making skills were given specific attention. The emerging trends in transport and logistics, such as industry 4.0 (inclusive of artificial intelligence, big data analytics, blockchain technology, Internet of Things, additive layer manufacturing, etc.) as well as analytically driven decision sciences and management sciences aspects are included in our new curriculum.
