The Department of Transport Management and Logistics Engineering, University of Moratuwa, offers the short course The Next Industrial Revolution: Preparing for Industry 5.0 in Manufacturing and Supply Chains to support professionals in understanding and responding to the emerging paradigm shift in industrial systems. As manufacturing and supply chains evolve beyond automation and digitalization, Industry 5.0 emphasizes human-centricity, sustainability, resilience, and close collaboration between advanced technologies and human intelligence.
The objective of this short course is to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of Industry 5.0 concepts, emerging technologies, and implementation pathways relevant to modern manufacturing and supply chain environments. The program is designed to help professionals develop strategic insight into human–machine synergy, collaborative robotics, sustainable and resilient system design, and the workforce transformations required through upskilling and reskilling. In addition, participants will gain practical exposure to sector-specific customization of Industry 5.0 and structured roadmaps for effective implementation.
The course is conducted over four days, with sessions held on March 08, 15, 22, and 29, 2025, covering a total of 32 contact hours from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The program is structured around interactive lectures, applied discussions, and action plan presentations followed by a panel discussion. With a strong emphasis on practical relevance and future-oriented thinking, this short course is aimed at industry professionals seeking to prepare their organizations and careers for the transition toward Industry 5.0 in manufacturing and supply chain systems.
