About STL
The Society of Transport & Logistics (STL) is the student body of the Department of Transport & Logistics Management guided and advised by staff members of the Department. STL was inaugurated in 2007 and its main objectives are to promote professional interest with regard to transport & logistics management among its members, identify and recognize the inherent capabilities and talents of the members and create closer links with the industry for the mutual benefit of all parties involved.
Current committee members
The patron of the committee is head of the Department of Transport & logistics, senior prof. Amal S. Kumarage. The staff advisor is Dr. Indika Sigera. Dr. Harishani Liyanage is the senior treasurer and Ms. Uthpalee Hewage is the executive committee member both representimg the academic staff of the department. The president of the committee for STL year 2020/21 is Mr. A.M. Arachchige. The three vice presidents for Media, Industry relations, and administration positions are held by Mr. W.M.J.P. Weerasinghe, Mr. M.W.R. Deemantha, and Mr.A.V.C. Jayasanka respectively. The secretary is Ms. W.A.K.V. Weerasinghe and the assistant secretary is Ms. W.A.Y.P Somaweera. Mr. K.M.D.L. Kosgoda holds the position of treasurer. Mr. D.S. Ranaweera, Mr. P.M.P.S. Rathnasekara, Mr. E.A.R. Charuka, Mr. G.D. Binal Omesha, and Mr. O.D. Rathnayake are the committee members who represents the four batches of current undergraduates in the department.
STL Projects
STL calendar comprise with the events which are organized by students with the guidance of the staff and the aid of the industry. TLM mind challenge-the intra department battle of quizzes, Sneha-department annual CSR initiative, Insight -the programme consists with quiz competition and awareness program about TLM degree to advanced level students, Skill enhancement programme, Rhythm Divine-annual talent show of the department, Transportz- annual intra department sport meet, Illuminar -annual career fair of the department and International Research Dissemination Symposium are the major calendar events of the STL. Also, Annual General Meeting & Award Ceremony is where the department witness the presentation of records of the closing STL year and appointment of the new committee. Followed by AGM, the Awards Ceremony if the platform where the undergraduates who excelled in extra curricular activities receive the due recognition and rewards for their commitments. The overall objective of this events agenda is to motivate the students to continue as best-balanced performers in the in the Transport & Logistics industry.
