The department undertakes consultancy assignments for industry wherein the academic specilisation of the department and its staff are utilized as key inputs while students and other resources are used for the execution of such assignments. Consultancies can range from simple data collection and reporting tasks to feasibility studies. Inquires for such assignments could be directed to the Head of Department (head-tlm@uom.lk , head-tmle@uom.lk ) or a relevant staff member whose expertise is required. Our department has handled a number of projects in the transport and logistics sector. These include both private and state sector organizations as well as for international agencies.
Further, department of Transport and Logistics Management engages in consultancy for technically challenging, or nationally important projects. Technically challenging projects benefit from an array of areas of expertise of our faculty, including in transport planning, public transport, traffic engineering, road safety, transport project appraisal, and urban transport related fields. Nationally important projects benefit from our experience in national policy formulation, transport sector master plans and strategic plans, people-oriented design of infrastructure and sustainable urban development. Some impactful projects are the Bus Priority Lane Project, Sahasara Bus Reforms Project and Makumbura Multimodal Center.
