Well qualified lecture panel

In delivering the subject content, the lecturer panel of the department of TLM is a unique combination of both the academia and the industry. Consequently, the panel comprises of Senior Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Consultants and Professionals including higher level Managers and Specialists from the industry. Currently TLM have more than eight PhDs from Transport systems, Air, Sea and Land Transportation, Supply Chain Management and Logistics Engineering accomplished from world most reputed universities. This diversity has led to the expertise of the academic staff to lie in varied fields ranging from Engineering, Transport Systems, Management Science, Economics, Marketing and Human Resource Management.

The Department’s primary objective is to use the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the staff to develop competent professionals with well-balanced knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet national and international needs in the Transport and Logistics sector and it presently accommodates more than 200 undergraduates.


Undergraduate computer laboratory

Computer LabA computer lab is located on the second floor of the building which accommodates 60 computers. Presently, the lab is utilized for software training, simulation, mathematical modelling and computerized laboratory experiments, as well as for continuous assessments such as quizzes and short tests (MCQ tests). We offer the following licensed software to our undergraduate to improve analytical and IT skills.    

TMLE Building

BuildingThe department moved into its own dedicated building which consists of 5 story s in 2014. The building accommodates all functions of the department pertaining to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as research activities. Students are given study areas with Wi-Fi in the Lobby areas, which is very useful for they to engage in group work, Continuous Assessments as well as studying during examinations. Department contains a Seminar room in the lower ground floor which is currently used for department functions.

Apart from the above mentioned, our students are eligible to use the common facilities provided by the University of Moratuwa including the gymnasium, grounds, sports complex (virtual tour), and university boat club (sports and recreation).
