20th Anniversary Celebration

 

On 27th August 2025, the Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering proudly celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Rubert Peiris Auditorium, University of Moratuwa. This milestone provided an opportunity to reflect on the department’s remarkable journey, honor its achievements, and reconnect with colleagues, alumni, and friends who have been integral to its success. The celebration was graced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, the former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, former Heads of the Department, staff members, alumni, and current students.

The celebration featured the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp, welcome speeches by the Head of Department Prof. Niles Perera, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. D.P. Chandrasekara, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. J.M.A. Manatunge, as well as special video presentations and a cake-cutting ceremony with past and present Heads of Department. The well-organized event highlighted the department’s journey over the past two decades, showcasing its contributions to academia and industry while setting an ambitious vision for the future.


20thA highlight of the evening was the Fireside Chat, “Department and the World,” featuring distinguished alumni and industry leaders, who shared valuable insights on the department’s impact and future opportunities. Another key highlight was a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring distinguished alumni: Prof. H. Niles Perera – Head, Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering Mr. Lasitha Manchanayake – CEO, John Keells Logistics and Vice President, John Keells Holdings PLC Mr. Chandima Senevirathne – General Manager – Commercial & Marketing, Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT)
