On 27th August, the Department of Transport Management and Logistics Engineering (TMLE) officially opened its Smart Mobility Laboratory, powered by Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka PLC (PickMe). The new lab, located on the lower ground floor, provides students with a modern space for innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning in transport and logistics.
The inauguration featured addresses by Prof. Niles Perera, Head of TMLE, and Prof. Jagath Manatunge, Dean of Engineering, followed by a keynote speech from Mr. Jiffry Zulfer, CEO of PickMe. Prof. Amal S. Kumarage, whose vision made the lab possible, also spoke on the importance of industry-academia partnerships.
A panel discussion on “From Data to Delivery: How Digital Mobility Solutions Are Transforming Transport and Logistics” highlighted the impact of digital innovations in the sector. The event concluded with a group photograph, celebrating this significant step toward empowering students and advancing transport innovation.
