The initial four seminars of the career development seminar series organized by the Department of Transport & Logistics Management were held during the months of September and October. The main intention of this seminar series was to provide career development tips for level 3 undergraduates who are getting ready to go for industrial training very soon. Seminars were conducted by five industry experts, Mr. Yasas Kasthuriarachchi (General manager Supply Chain, Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited) & Mr. Yasith Wijayarathne (Head of Colombo Terminal, Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited), Mr. Lasitha Manchanayake (CEO, John Keells Logistics), Mr. Eshan Weerasinghe (Manager Airport Service, SriLankan Airlines Ltd.), Mr. Tharindu Samaranayake (Head of Demand & Supply Planning) and Mr. Upul Welikala (Founder & CEO, UDCORP).
Third-year undergraduates of the Department of Transport and Logistics Management had a field visit to Mattala International Airport and to Galle Port on 2nd September 2022. The main intention of the visit was to familiarize students with port and airport infrastructure and operations. Furthermore, students were able to learn about current challenges, facility utilization options, and research and development opportunities.
MBA students of the Department of Transport & Logistics Management visited Spectra Logistics (Pvt) Ltd on 18th October 2022. The visit started with a company briefing and a Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) briefing. Furthermore, students were able to visit and see the warehouse and container depot operations.
