Recommissioning of "Little Beaver" Hydraulic Earth Drill

The "Little Beaver" Hydraulic Earth Drill [Power Auger] bought by the department twenty years back under the ADB Project was repaired and recommissioned with the presence of the Vice-Chancellor; Professor N.D. Gunawardena and Dean-Faculty of Engineering; Professor N.K. Wickramarachchi at University Ground on 06th July 2021.

This was done under a recent initiative made at the department, following up the encouragement given by the present Vice-Chancellor to repair the most valuable instruments for the benefit of the department, university, and industrial applications, as an investment.

The instrument has the capacity to drill up to 35ft depth in five sizes: Ø [4, 6, 8, 10, 12] Inch, and ideal for soft soil formations above the water table. Now the instrument is available in good working condition, ready for departmental research work and for collaborative projects with industry.
