This programme is designed for construction industry professionals to gain extensive knowledge in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution, while adopting a broad generic approach. The programme is conducted by a team of highly experienced university lecturers and professionals in the industry. This is a part time fee levying programme carefully designed to appeal to the industry's top achievers. The objective is to enable qualified and experienced professionals to participate in a programme leading to the award of the University's M.Sc. degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. The programme has rich blend of participants consisting of various professionals in the construction industry.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The degree programmes are structured in such a way as to encourage independence in student learning and the integration of diverse material. The programme continues to adopt a variety of teaching, learning and assessment methods such as lectures, seminars, guest lectures, end semester examinations and assignments.
M.Sc. in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution is a five semester part-time programme consisting of eighteen compulsory modules including research dissertation. Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution is a three semester part-time course consisting of sixteen compulsory modules.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
Medium of instruction is English.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
FirstYear: The students will follow a lecture series including assignments (12 hours of contact time per week) which are designed to be intensive but scheduled to suit the busy schedule of the working professional.
Second Year: The students will undertake the writing of a dissertation in a significant area selected in the field of construction law and dispute resolution under the guidance of a supervisor appointed by the programme coordinator.
PROGRAM DELIVERY AND SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS
Lectures of the programme will be conducted on every Friday (4.00pm – 7.00pm) and Saturday (8.00 am to 7.30 pm).
Standard mode of program delivery and conduct of examinations will be done physically at the University of Moratuwa. However, under extreme conditions prevailing in the country it may be changed to online delivery and online exams.

ELIGIBILITY
The selection of students to the Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution leading to Master of Science in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution will be made by the Department of Building Economics, in accordance with one of the following extended eligibility requirements, approved by the Senate
- An Honours Bachelor’s degree of the University of Moratuwa, related to construction and built environment AND a minimum of one (01) year relevant experience after the effective date of the degree,
OR
- Any other four (04) years Honours Bachelor’s degree related to construction and built environment AND a minimum of one (01) year relevant experience after the effective date of the degree,
OR
- Any other three (03) years Bachelor’s degree related to construction and built environment AND a minimum of two (02) years relevant experience after the effective date of the degree,
OR
- Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute related to construction and built environment, obtained through an academic route AND a minimum of two (02) years relevant experience after the effective date of obtaining the recognized category of membership.
The recognition of the institution, the relevancy of the field and experience required for eligibility shall be judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate.

COURSE FEES
The Course fee for the first academic year and second academic year are Rs.225,000/- and Rs.125,000/- respectively. The registration fee per semester is Rs.1,500/- (First year - Rs.4,500/- and Second year - Rs.3,000/-). In addition a non refundable deposit of Rs.2,000/- (for library facilities) and an examination fee of Rs.500/- is payable at the registration.
The course fees for the local and overseas students are given below. Local fees are applicable to Sri Lankan nationals who resides in Sri Lanka. Overseas fees are applicable to Foreign nationals who currently resides in Sri Lanka under long term visa or to Foreign nationals who are willing to stay in Sri Lanka during the course of study under long term student or any other type of visa category.
