Training program in fashion design practice

Department of Textile and Apparel Engineering has successfully completed its newest training program to the addition: Training program in fashion design practice. This program is specially designed for the external participants, beginning to learn more about fashion design and wanting to initiate fashion related career with their future studies or professional experience. The participants got the opportunity to work with expert academics through lecture and workshop mode practice-based approach to learn in fashion design for five consecutive Sundays. They were also having the opportunity to work in world-class design studios during the sessions.

The program consisted with stimulating introduction to fashion design with a basic understanding to the fashion, design research, design process, product development and the design communication for beginners. Inaugural event in February was graced by the Head of the Department of Textile and Apparel Engineering explaining the departments expectation on introducing more external training programs like this in the future for the benefit of the Sri Lankan fashion sector, crafts and Apparel industry needs. We congratulate all the participants for the successful completion and invite exploiting and igniting their creative sparks through future studies and practice in fashion. The programme was written and coordinated by Dr Ayesha Wickramasinghe and Dr Sumith Gopura.
