The 22nd batch (Intake 2022-2023) of the Fashion Design and Product Development degree course at the Department of Textile & Apparel Engineering hosted an exhibition on August 13, 2024. This event showcased their project work from the first two semesters, offering a glimpse into the students' creativity and accomplishments.
The exhibition prominently featured a range of woven textile samples, crafted by the students using both table looms and frame looms. The display presented a balanced mix of structured, technically-driven pieces alongside more exploratory and artistic expressions, reflecting the depth of the students' technical skills and creativity. Additionally, the students' sketchbooks, documenting their design development processes, were also showcased, providing insight into their conceptual thinking and design evolution.
The primary objective of the exhibition was to inspire and guide the new Semester 1 students, offering them a firsthand look at the level of craftsmanship and creativity expected in the course. Although the exhibition was an internal event attended by students and staff, it also attracted a few enthusiastic visitors from outside the university, further underscoring the appeal and quality of the students' work. The feedback provided by the attendees was valuable, contributing to the ongoing development and refinement of the students' skills.
