Intex-Sri Lanka: The premier textile sourcing exhibition took place from August 7–9, 2024, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). A selection of student project work, including textile and fashion items, was on display as a representation of the University of Moratuwa. The final-year undergraduates of Batch 18 and 19 of the B.Des Fashion Design & Product Development (FD&PD) degree program, along with a select group of final-year students, displayed their projects along with their concepts, storyboards, and sketchbooks predicting new trends and innovations.
The exhibition gave the university students a fantastic chance to be recognized by professionals in the international textile and apparel industry. Buyers contacted some students directly about their designs, and several companies expressed interest in providing internships to students. Additionally, students gained invaluable experience showcasing their work and interacting with different textile industry buyers from both domestic and foreign markets.
The Department of Textile and Apparel Engineering's non-academic staff, along with Mr. Suneth Senarathna and Ms. Minuri Dasbandara from the academic staff, provided support to Ms. Prathibani Manthriratne (a senior lecturer) in directing the exhibition.
