The Project: Dreams of Weaving conducted by Dr. Ayesha Wickramashighe and Dr. Sumith Gopura looks at Sri Lankan Handloom artisans’ socio-emotional identities. The 27-yard long continuous fabric woven during the project is reaching to its final stage. Fabulous silence, creativity and tacit knowledge of artisans are merely shown in the sample fabric opening the discussion of “how wonderful things can happen when we empower artisans and give them freedom”.
