QS Careers Day 3.0: Preparing Future Quantity Surveyors for the Professional World

 

QS Careers Day 3.0, held on 18th March 2026, was a significant event in the academic calendar of the Department of Building Economics. Organised by the Building Economics Students’ Society (BESS), the event aimed to support final-year Quantity Surveying undergraduates in preparing for their transition from university education to the professional construction industry. In preparation for the main event, a series of career development sessions were conducted to enhance students’ employability and professional readiness. These sessions covered important areas such as Interview Etiquette, CV Preparation and Personal Branding. Delivered by experienced industry professionals, the sessions provided students with practical knowledge on hQSCow to present themselves confidently, communicate effectively, and face job interviews and workplace expectations with professionalism. Primarily targeting Level 4 Quantity Surveying undergraduates, QS Careers Day 3.0 created a valuable platform for students to interact directly with industry professionals and potential employers. The event also enabled students to explore career opportunities and build meaningful connections with representatives from leading firms in the construction and quantity surveying sectors. Overall, QS Careers Day 3.0 was a successful and enriching initiative, leaving students more confident, career-ready, and motivated to enter the professional world as future Quantity Surveyors.
