The taught Part-time Masters of Science Programme in Occupational Safety and Health Management was first offered in July 2013.
COURSE STRUCTURE
M.Sc. in Occupational Safety and Health Management Programme is structured to offer specialized areas of current importance in the industry. It has a lecture panel of highly qualified, experienced and motivated professionals engaged in various professions such as Occupational Safety and Health, Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Law, Quantity Surveying and Human Resource Management.
The overall program goal is to provide the highest quality of academically well trained competent safety practitioners for businesses and industries as well as the government institutions in Sri Lanka and globally. The program objectives include training graduates with hands-on working knowledge and general understanding of all aspects in management of occupational safety and health. The areas of training include OSH Management in Facilities, Legal Aspects of OSH & Welfare, Psychology and Stress Management, Safety and Health in Workplace Planning & Ergonomics, Environmental Sustainability, Risk Management, Disaster Management, Human Recourse Management and Finance & Economics.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE COURSE
Workshops and Seminars will be conducted by guest lecturers from eminent professional and factory visits will be arranged. A dedicated team of lecturers who are specialized in a vast variety of fields strengthens the programme.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The course covers two academic years,
First Year: The students will follow a lectures series including assignments which are designed to be intensive but scheduled to suit the busy schedule of the working professional.
Second Year: The students will undertake the writing of a dissertation in a significant area selected in the field of occupational safety and health under the guidance of a supervisor appointed by the programme co-ordinator.

ELIGIBILITY
Those who possess following qualification are eligible to apply:
- The Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management of the University of Moratuwa with a minimum of one year experience,
OR
- An Honours Bachelor degree of the University of Moratuwa and a minimum of one year appropriate experience, as may be approved by the Senate,
OR
- Any other Honours Bachelor degree from a recognised University with a minimum of one year appropriate experience, as may be approved by the Senate,
OR
- A three year degree conducted by the University of Moratuwa and a minimum of two years appropriate experience, as may be approved by the Senate,
OR
- Any other three year degree from a recognised University with a minimum of two years appropriate experience, as may be approved by the Senate,
OR
Any recognised category of membership of a recognised professional institution, obtained through an academic route, and a minimum of two years appropriate experience after obtaining such membership, as may be approved by the Senate.

All duly filled applications, along with a paying-in-voucher for Rs.1,000/- as the application processing fee, drawn in favour of University of Moratuwa Account No. 70993353 obtained from Bank of Ceylon shall reach the Department of Building Economics, Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa.
PROGRAMME FEES
The Course fee for the first academic year and second academic year are Rs.150,000/- and Rs.100,000/- respectively. The registration fee per semester is Rs.1,500/- (First year - Rs.4,500/- and Second year - Rs.3,000/-). In addition a refundable deposit of Rs.2,500/- (for library facilities) and an examination fee of Rs.500/- is payable at the registration.
