Level 2 Facilities Management undergraduates recently took part in a two-day field visit to Trincomalee on October 29th and 30th, 2023. This hands-on experience took them to key locations, including the Kanthale Water Treatment Plant, China Bay Harbor, and the historic Fort Frederick Trincomalee.
The visit to the Kanthale Water Treatment Plant provided students with a deep understanding of the operational activities and maintenance protocols crucial for sustaining such facilities. Exploring China Bay Harbor and Fort Frederick Trincomalee broadened their understanding of the diverse facets of facilities management, from harbor logistics to the preservation of historical landmarks.
This field expedition plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical application for Facilities Management students. The Department of Building Economics remains committed to offering enriching experiences that prepare students for the multifaceted challenges of managing and maintaining facilities in the real world.
