On the 19th of March 2025, Level 3 Quantity Surveying undergraduates of the Department of Building Economics participated in an informative guest lecture on "Bid Evaluation: Government Projects." The session was delivered by Chartered Engineer Prageeth Pathmendra, Deputy General Manager (Contracts & QS) at the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).
The lecture provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the bid evaluation process for government projects, an essential area of knowledge for aspiring quantity surveyors. Throughout the session, students learned about key aspects of bid evaluation for government projects, including technical compliance assessment, financial evaluation criteria, and the various regulatory frameworks that govern public procurement. Students expressed appreciation for the practical orientation of the lecture, noting how it enhanced their readiness for professional practice.
