Level 2 Quantity Surveying Undergraduates Participate in the Annual Building Design and Construction Workshop

The Department of Building Economics organized its annual Building Design and Construction Workshop for Level 2 Quantity Surveying undergraduates on the 5th of April 2025. The workshop provided students with valuable practical experience to complement their classroom learning. The session was guided by professionals from International Construction Consortium (ICC) Pvt. Ltd, who currently oversee the University of Moratuwa's Faculty of Medicine project site. The team of resource persons included Site Engineer Mr. MWADS Wijesooriya, Project Manager Mr. JMM Jayasinghe, Site Agent Mr. RMCA Rathnayake, and Project Quantity Surveyor Mr. PGR Nuwan Darshana. These industry experts shared their knowledge while demonstrating various construction techniques.

These activities reinforced concepts learned in lectures while introducing students to the realities of executing on-site construction works.
The Quantity Surveying Alumni Association (QSAA) played a key role in facilitating the workshop by coordinating with the resource persons and sponsoring construction materials used during the practical sessions. This collaboration highlights the strong industry connections maintained by the Department and the ongoing support from its alumni network.
