Level 03 Students Enhance Knowledge on Price Fluctuations

On 8th January 2025, Level 03 undergraduates of the Department of Building Economics attended a guest lecture on the topic “Price Fluctuations.” The session was conducted by Ch. QS (Ms.) Deepa Samaraweera, who brought valuable industry insights to the discussion. Held from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m., the session covered key aspects of managing price variations in construction projects. Students learned about the causes of price fluctuations, the use of fluctuation formulas, and practical considerations when dealing with cost changes during project execution. The lecture helped students better understand how price fluctuations affect budgeting, tendering, and contract management—skills essential for their future careers as quantity surveyors. The session also encouraged interactive learning, allowing students to clarify their doubts and link theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
