On April 28, 2024, students from the Department of Building Economics participated in an informative field visit to the soil nailing project at the Nursing School in Kandy. This visit provided a unique opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of advanced construction techniques, particularly soil nailing technology. During the visit, students learned about the fundamentals of soil nailing, including the two primary types: embedded type and grid type. They also had the chance to observe the specialized machinery and equipment used in soil nailing, offering them a practical insight into the complexities of the technique. Additionally, students examined the project drawings, which helped them to better understand the design and implementation processes involved in soil nailing projects. This hands-on experience was invaluable in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, further enriching their educational journey.
