On 22nd February 2025, Level 02 undergraduates of the Department of Building Economics attended a guest lecture on “MS Excel & Essential Software for Quantity Surveyors.” The session was conducted by Ch. QS Majith Kodithuwakku, General Manager – Estimates and Contracts at ICC (Pvt) Ltd.
During the lecture, students were introduced to the practical use of MS Excel and other key software applications commonly used in the quantity surveying profession. Ch. QS Kodithuwakku shared real-world examples and explained how these tools support daily tasks such as estimating, budgeting, data analysis, and reporting.
The session helped students understand the importance of digital skills in improving efficiency and accuracy in the industry. It also gave them a clearer view of the expectations in the workplace, better preparing them for future roles as quantity surveyors.
